A Wrisinger Family Tradition Since 1959
Wrisinger Auctions was established in 1959 by Col. Roy D. Wrisinger in Richmond MO, after Roy's graduation from the Fort Smith Auction School in Fort Smith, AR. A former construction foreman in Kansas City, he started his business at age 42. His innovative style and creative ambitions suited him well. Col. Roy “cried” hundreds of benefit auctions to give back to the community. When he started, he had no idea that his son, Rick, only 5 years old at the time, would continue the business. In the early years, the Wrisinger Auction business was a family affair. His wife, Alberta, always at his side, his children, as well sister Sarah, nieces and nephews could always be found at the Wrisinger Sale Barn. Roy bought the old Harrison Lumber Yard storage building, even though it was a gravel floor and open front, Roy and his family worked hard to make a sale barn. The front was enclosed, and eventually, the gravel floor was replaced with concrete. In the mid-’60s, Roy’s Used Furniture Store was located on the lower level of the Richmond Hotel. When the hotel was destroyed by fire, the furniture store was relocated to the auction barn, which was doubled in size. Roy passed in 1993 but was very proud that his business would continue and become a family tradition.

As Roy would say "Reece is just a chip off the old block" He is certainly not afraid to take the mic and work a crowd. It is believed that Reece was and still is the youngest Col. in Ray County.
In Loving Memory of Col. Rick Wrisinger, 1954-2015. 2nd Generation Auctioneer.
A 1973 graduate of Richmond (MO) High School, Rick received a BA in Secondary Education from William Penn College, Oskaloosa, IA in 1977. He graduated from Fort Smith (AR) Auction School in July, 1978. After four years of assisting his dad, Roy, with auctions in Richmond, Rick relocated from Melcher, IA, returning home to Richmond and joined the family auction business full time in1982. Rick was a well-known and respected educator, teaching social studies and business classes at Orrick (MO) High School. In 1993, Rick received his Masters of Science in Secondary Administration from University of Central Missouri, and later served as principal of Orrick (MO) High School from 2000 until his retirement in 2008. Rick would certainly be proud of the transition to the online auction presence and how the family business has carried on. Pictured in 2015, the late Col. Rick Wrisinger (seated right), is joined by (L to R) Reece, Justin, and Heather.
